Healing Through Spoken Word

We all need to find a outlet whether it's through music, writing, sports, dance, etc. For me Spoken Word/Poetry has been my outlet. Dealing with Trauma at a very young age caused me to retreat at school and act out at home. However, as I got older I held a lot of feelings and emotions inside and every so often I would explode. If I had not found my gift, my outlet in spoken word/poetry no telling where I would be in life. All I do know that because of a piece of paper, pen and a gift from God, I'm surviving and currently still healing from my early childhood trauma.

Healing from Trauma Personal Program

Study's show that 70% of people in the U.S. will experience some type of trauma, whether it is a one time event or on going traumatic event. When do you heal from trauma? There's no exact answer to that question. Recovering from trauma takes time, every situation is different, every person is different and how it affects a person can be different. For instance, you and your sibling are both in the house when your home catches on fire, one of you might get over it within a month however it might take one of you years.  Many factors may come into play however what if one of you lost your favorite toy that you were attached to in the fire and you don't realize that losing that favorite toy may have a lot to do with your attachment issues that you are experiencing today. If you have experienced trauma and you want to take steps toward the healing process, please book a session with me.

The Effects of Trauma Workshop

Trauma is real and can have long term effects. Annette Breaux said, "Remember: everyone in the classroom has a story that leads to misbehavior or defiance, 9 times out of 10, the story behind misbehavior won't make you angry. It will break your heart." Empathy is sometimes hard to have, we say we empathize with people however do we really put ourselves in the other person's "shoes"?  Do we really understand another person's thoughts, feelings, and condition from his or her point of view, rather than from our own? Children who experience trauma most likely carry those traumatic experiences into adulthood. This workshop will help you better understand trauma, recognize trauma and how to help someone who may have had a traumatic experience. Every school, government agency, state and local entities, etc, needs to be educated on the lasting effects of trauma and how we can better deal with individuals who have experienced traumatic event in their life. Please book a consultation, in order to tailor a workshop to the needs of your staff.
