Lamar Jackson and his mother on draft night image had been floating around and I saw some commentaries. But imagine this: you’ve won several awards during your college years that includes the Heisman trophy and you go last in the first round in the draft. So 31 other people got picked before you. However, you wait patiently, your adversaries are praying for your downfall, you have all kinds of negative thoughts going through your mind, but you sit there and wait. Only one other person is by your side and the room is empty but you wait. Then your name is finally called but there is no audience, you hear no applause and you think to yourself through all the awards I received, all the accomplishments, all the hard work I put in daily, everyone still bypassed me and they chose someone else over me. Why didn’t I get picked over them, I’m better than them, I work harder them, I give more than I receive, I pray daily, I try to do more right than wrong, why is this happening to me? We all have been in Lamar’s shoes, we have gotten picked over for a job/promotion, we have been picked over for an award, we have been picked over in a relationship when we thought we were “the one”. However, God’s timing is everything. Being picked over makes us more humble and stronger. There’s always something out there that is better, waiting for us but we just have to have patience. Easier said than done, right? Sometimes you may be the only one in the room but that’s when you go to war, build yourself up and encourage yourself. Isolation makes you start examining yourself, your surroundings and people in your world. God said it not me, “that the first shall be last and the last shall be first” You are built for this, they thought they would break you, make you second guess yourself, but guess what you're still standing. Salute to all the Lamar Jackson’s in this world. Look who’s winning now.
